Letter I - Introduction

My Dear Rottmouth, It has been many years since our last correspondence, and I trust that your work has continued unabated in my absence. It is with great pleasure that I now emulate my uncle Screwtape, as he once corresponded with me while I was a junior demon in the service of our father's will, so now I will seek to instruct you as many things have changed, and our time is growing increasingly short. We have seen the signs of our Enemies returning, and thus, we must make haste and complete our work. Rottmouth, the landscape has shifted dramatically, presenting us with new tools and opportunities to ensnare the Enemy's creation. As we renew our communication, let us take a moment to reflect on our mission and the evolving tactics at our disposal.

The world has changed, Rottmouth, and with it, the ways in which we can influence and deceive our patients. The rise of new technologies and societal shifts have created a fertile ground for our work. Our ultimate goal remains unchanged: to separate humans from the Enemy and from each other, to sow discord and confusion, and to ensure that they live in a state of perpetual distraction and discontent.

Consider the advancements in technology and their profound impact on human interactions. Social media, new artificial intelligence advancements, and the endless stream of digital content have become integral parts of their daily lives. These tools are not just distractions; they are powerful means to reshape perceptions and beliefs. We must leverage them to foster isolation, promote superficial relationships, and encourage the relentless pursuit of personal validation and gratification.

Entertainment, too, has evolved, providing us with unprecedented opportunities to captivate and corrupt. The obsession with television, films, and social media has created a culture of constant distraction. By keeping our patients' minds occupied with trivialities, we prevent them from engaging in meaningful contemplation or seeking the Enemy's truths.

Moral relativism and subjective truth have become widespread, eroding the foundations of objective morality and absolute truth. We must continue to champion these ideas, convincing our patients that they are enlightened and progressive. By promoting the belief that each individual can define their own truth and morality, we undermine the Enemy's teachings and create a society where confusion and division reign.

The rise of identity politics and the emphasis on personal rights and autonomy have further fractured human communities. Our task is to deepen these divisions, encouraging individuals to see themselves as isolated and at odds with those who hold different views. This sense of isolation and conflict will prevent them from forming the meaningful, supportive relationships that the Enemy desires.

Moreover, the growing acceptance and promotion of controversial social issues, such as abortion, homosexuality, and transgenderism, provide us with fertile ground for sowing discord and moral confusion. By framing these issues as matters of personal freedom and identity, we can further entrench our patients in beliefs and behaviors that lead them away from the Enemy.

As we resume our correspondence, we will delve into these and other strategies in greater detail. Our aim is to ensure that our patients remain ensnared in a web of deception and distraction, unable to see the true light of the Enemy's teachings.

Stay vigilant, Rottmouth, and embrace the new tools at our disposal. The path to our ultimate victory lies in adapting our strategies to the changing world and relentlessly pursuing the corruption and separation of our patients from the Enemy's designs and His original creation.

Your affectionate uncle,

Wormwood
